Hello everyone,
The month of March brings a long list of artists, shows and much flair to Adelaide with the Fringe still in full swing. This coming weekend also brings the hot Clipsal 500 racing and concerts to the city on Sunday 2nd March.
With all of this going on, it's going to make parking on Sunday 2nd March even more difficult than it already is.
Then the following weekend (Sunday 8th March) is the Adelaide Cup long weekend.
Therefore there's no dance practices for these weekends.
We resume on Sunday 16th March (3:15pm for kids, 4pm for adults).
Thanks everyone!

2014 Practice Dates
Hi everyone,
Hope you've enjoyed the summer holidays. School is back and so will German dancing practices as of week 2. Below are the term dates for all of 2014. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 9th February.
Hot Weather Policy:
We have been having a very hot summer this year, so during February if the weather on any of our practice days is 36C degrees or above, then we won't have a practice. Hopefully during March the weather won't be so extreme.

Successful 50th Anniversary of the DVK and KTK
On Saturday 9th July we had a wonderful Anniversary celebrating the past 50 years of German Folk dancing, at The German Club.
Over 300 people attended the night including many dignitaries. The floor shows by the Kindertanzkreis, Bund der Bayern children's group and of course the Deutscher Volkstanzkreis
were a highlight - so too was the music entertainment by Herbert Stauber.
Thankyou to Herbert for composing a wonderful 50th Anniversary song for us - we all loved singing it!
Many people have posted photos from the night onto our facebook page.
Click here to see them and relive the memories.
Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate this milestone!
Best regards,
members of the DVK and KTK

FAQ's
How can I easily tell my friends about this event?
You can share this blog page via email, google+ or facebook (click on the share button at the top righthand). You can share the event created in facebook (head to our site at Deutscher Volktanzkreis.
Is this a formal event?
There will be some formal speeches, including a speech by the Hon. Jennifer Rankie MP (Minister for Multicultural Affairs). In between the floor shows there's plenty of time for mingling or checking out the photo board and kids entertainment area, plus there's some social dancing where we try to get everyone capcable onto the floor. Do some of you remember the dance Sonderburger Doppelquadrille?
Do you cater for those with a wheelchair, pram, walking frame or stick?
Yes of course! There is lift access to the second floor and it's only a few steps to the Main Hall. There will be limited seating, so we've asked people capable of standing to offer seating for those most in need of them.
Why no door prize or tickets now?
We have recieved a small grant from Multicultural SA for this event. As part of the grant requirements, this must be a free public event, therefore no entry tickets. That means no door prize as well.

Performance Video
This Performance was filmed at the 2003 Schutzenfest. It is the fourth performance of the weekend.
The other performances will follow in the future.
This showcases some of our traditional dances from all over Germany, as well as a little surprise.
The Schutzenfest is Adelaide's Largest German Festival which occurs annually. It is a huge amount of fun (check out www.schutzenfest.com.au for more details)
